Saves more than just your game
. I got bored when I was sick and so I decided I wanted to do a usb key hack to add to this list: [link]
I started off by gutting a $10.00, 32 meg usb key I had floating around. I decided I wanted to make the moogle's bulb (the thing on his head) light up when he's plugged in. To do this I desoldered the LED on the key and replaced it with another red LED on a piece of IDE cable (stiff enough to be bendable under the fabric). This was the easy part (for me at least...).
I then set out to make the moogle part of the key. I'm fairly good at 3d modeling but I suck at sewing. Luckily my sister is pretty good ([link]
). She helped me with most of the technique, but insisted that I had to come up with the design. Apparently my stitching is horrible.
After about a week of work, the result is a 32 meg usb key that looks like a moogle. The wire that goes to his bulb and the wires in his wing make him reasonably poseable. His bulb lights up evenly (apparently stuffing diffuses light well) when he is plugged in and being used (ie transferring files to the key).
I decided to give the moogle to my sister because she took the above pictures for me.I also gave her the patterns for the plush because she has agreed to do commissions for it; message her for details if you're interested. I'm not exactly sure if she will make it a usb key, but its best to ask her.
Hope you like it
